If you can't handle the heat, get out of the (kitschen)!

(Top/leggings/skirt - H&M, fuzzy cardigan - Lost & Found in Tokyo, necklace - vintage, bag - vintage from Tokyo, boots - Alice + Olivia for Payless)

This cardigan is one of my most favorite items I purchased in Japan - it's fuzzy and cozy but also lightweight and lined with satin. Even better? It was on sale for 1500 yen! (Roughly $15)

One of my biggest pet peeves about winter is the fact that I am getting to work when the sun is just rising, and leaving when the sun has already set. After work, I barely leave the apartment and end up going to bed waay earlier than usual - hellooo, winter blues!

P.S.

How amazing is this image, taken by Hanneli?

What's Old is New..

(Silk tunic - Forevs)

I've been trying to purge my wardrobe ever since returning home...I currently have about 3.5 garbage bags filled with things I can live without. I love it!

However, sometimes I come across things I haven't worn in so long that they somehow become new again - like this Forever 21 silk tunic, for instance. I wore this years ago for Halloween (Miss Piggy!) the proper way, deep v in the front. Looking at it today, I thought - why not turn it around?

Experiments such as this really make me double think buying new items on a weekly basis - who knows what other treasures I have buried in the depths of...my other piles of clothes?

My Saturday night consisted of avoiding going outside at all costs, making Dirt in a Cup, cupcakes, and watching nonsense YouTube videos.

Velvet, crushed - not stirred.

(blouse/bow headband - H&M, velvet blazer/velvet pants - Vintage, wedges - JC for LF)

My boyfriend and I decided to wander the city yesterday as tourists, enjoying the lessened crowds and darkened stores. The fact that I made it through 7 hours without one complaint about aching feet is testament to how insanely comfortable these wedges are!

I think my bf looked pretty fly <3

Also, I paid $1 to get a picture taken with my alter ego....the Cookie Monster! Even though he's a supposed 'vegetarian' now, I believe in my heart of all hearts that he has a secret stash of cookies hidden somewhere...

A name with no face...

(Silk shirt - vintage, Faux fur coat/skirt/beaded cardigan - H&M, necklace - Hanjiro in Harajuku, JC for LF wedges)

Wednesday night was my unofficial 'Welcome back!' night, seeing as the official was supposed to be NYE. This did not turn out to be the case, but that is another story...

Today's plans include: wandering around the (hopefully) deserted streets of the city, taking touristy pictures, drinking in the Christmas decorations before they are taken down, drinking in some amazing hot chocolate, and then re-creating the NYE that never came to be...

<3 Happy 2010! <3

Holidaze

(H&M dress, Forever 21 skirt, Calvin Klein shoez, necklace from Harajuku)

The holidays were a whirlwind, mainly because I arrived home from Japan on Tuesday morning and my internal clock isn't set straight quite yet..

All that mattered was coming home to a beautiful tree my boyfriend had set up, filled with ornaments from a crane machine in Japan and finally getting to see my Tiggles (kitty!) after a painful separation :-(

Jeffrey Campbell for LF wedges and a new lens for my camera were by far the flashiest and most drool worthy presents received, but the most sentimental and unexpected present came from my boyfriend in the form of a Babysitter's Club book...

Priceless <3

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and best luck in the New Year!! This blog is on my Resolution list for sure.....

Blinded by the light

(Blazer - thrifted, Skirt - thrifted, Belt - Vintage)

This blazer is one of those pieces I never knew was missing from my life until I discovered it...

...at Goodwill for $7.

I cannot believe I can still rock bare legs towards the end of November...global warming what?

Fashion Snap!

(Dress - H&M, Blazer - Urban Outfitters, Tights - Tokyo, Boots - Vintage, Bag - Urban Outfitters)

One of the areas I frequent the most is Omotesando (just a stones throw from the Harajuku District). This is the red carpet for the everyday girl - street style blogs clutter the sidewalks, searching for the next big thing. In Tokyo, this is not hard to find so imagine my surprise when one of them stopped me!

Fashion Snap is a street style blog that captures not only Tokyo's elite, but also reports on the up and coming trends and ongoings in Tokyo. They were doing a feature on watches and I was chosen to answer some questions on which watch I picked, why, and what I look for in a watch. There were so many questions, I ended up giving mostly one word answers and probably came off sounding like a dumbass, i.e. "Old-fashioned! Vintage! Big face!"

Oy.

A ticker-tape parade

I stopped into Zoe today and discovered Kimberly Ovitz - soo good! Androgynous and tailored, with the slightest whiff of Alex Wang.

This vest is amazing in person..ugh.

As is this sweater!

P.P.S. I passed on the most amazing pair of short brown leather boots today..kicking myself :-(

(Liz) Sport it!

(Consigned blouse, Urban Renewal Levi's cutoffs, Target gladiators)

I love the anticipation when waiting for a disposable camera to be developed - you just never know!

This weekend was a blur - spent mostly on the train (ech) but for a good cause (Father's Day!). Pancake breakfast followed by The Hangover! Simple but lovely.

Also, I finally found my sequin shorts! They are bordering on booty, but paired with the right thing I think they could truly be magical.

Home is where the good thrifting is..

I wore this...last week? I swear that one side of my body isn't higher than the other...awkward shirt tucking action!

(Robyn for H&M Fashion Against AIDS tee, thrifted blazer, H&M skirt, stolen flower)

I'm homehome this weekend and I love it for three reasons: thrifting, Target, and family/friends. In no particular order! I'm not that materialistic, promise.

Also, Chloe Sevigny and I were most definitely at the same place Thursday night! Maybe I should post a picture of Ryan Gosling and see if he shows up next.

The Model as Muse

(H&M denim dress, Forever 21 skirt, Urban Outfitters flats)

Saturday ended up being so beautiful! We went to The Met to see the 'Model as Muse' exhibit and then to Central Park to frolic :0) The exhibit was absolutely amazing but we ended up rushing through because it was so crowded. However, it is up until August so I'd like to go back on a random weekday when it might be a little more calm.

Hell's a boardwalk, baby

I've been sick practically all week - no voice, exhausted..the works!
Needless to say, the challenge I challenged myself to hasn't been my first priority :0/

However, it is Friday, and I did finally buy those wedges from Bakers, and I'd really really like to go out. This calls for dressing up hours and hours before actually going out or having plans!

Now, the shoes kinda ruin it because they were $40 but I just had to wear them...so this one doesn't count.

Thrifted Harley Davidson t-shirt - $2
H&M board shorts - $3
Thrifted Levi's denim jacket - $4
Thrifted gold chain - $10
Baker's wedges - $40

= $59

Serendipity

My boyfriend's brother was in town this week so we decided to take advantage and do something touristy....like eat at Serendipity's!

It's something I've always wanted to do and after shopping today and enjoying the surprisingly not rainy weather, it was the perfect touch :0)

What I wore...
(H&M top and leather jacket, Forever 21 shorts, thrifted boots, cheapie Marc tote)
I am absolutely obsessed with this H&M blouse...it is the perfect color and fit and the bow is beyond adorable.

Some yummies <3

Now I can fully accept the lazy, rainy Sunday that is ahead with open arms...
