Up until I typed "Claudia Kishi" into Google, I thought I was the only one who would skim the first telltale chapter of each Babysitter's Club book, awaiting with bated breath the next outfit du jour. I liked to think of myself as Claudia's sista from anothah mistah - a white grrl counterpart to her funky, no holds-barred, pre-Harajuku amazingness. I hated math, I loved drawing and candy and kooky accessories - besties 4evs, right?
Wrong.
There are countless who covet Claudia! I should have known better than to think I was the only one. To think that she and I lived in our own world of friendship and Bedazzlers and leggings and Nancy Drew - to think these things is to live in a world of delusions, a world that probably meant I should have gotten out more.
Regardless, Claudia Kishi was a style icon, an inspiration, and one bad ass chick. Her outfit blurbs of yesteryear paved the way for the fashion blogs of today - in fact her sheer awesomeocity still lives on in a too clever for words blog known as What Claudia Wore, reminding us that yes, Stoneybrook, there is a Claudia Kishi..in all of us.
